CONFERENCE LOCATION

The sessions and accommodation will be located at Hatley Park (rechristened Royal Roads University) which is located about 2 miles from Victoria

SESSIONS

The sessions will take place in Hatley Castle, a magnificent estate building featuring stained glass windows, teak, oak, solid pewter light fittings, and Fijian Yaka wood.  The main events will take place in the Drawing Room, which provides an unparalleled view of the ocean and Olympic Mountains. 

ACCOMMODATION

You will be staying in the Nixon Residence, which has a unique combination of standard rooms and  executive style rooms.  Rooms are furnished with a twin bed, sink, lamps, wardrobe, desk and a reading chair.  Spacious, well appointed, and fully accessible central bathrooms are only a few steps from each room.  Daily maid service provides fresh towels and quickly refreshes your room.  Each floor boasts a common lounge which offers an ocean view and is furnished with easy chairs, couches, cable TV, a fridge, microwave, coffee-maker, and kettle – ideal for relaxing and after-meeting mingling.  
A few rooms include a full bathroom and these will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. 
Accommodation is part of the registration package and should be booked using the
accommodation section on the JSI Registration Form. 

TRAVEL

When you arrive in Victoria, you will either arrive by plane or ferry

Victoria International Airport
Major airlines offer frequent, scheduled flights to Victoria International Airport from Vancouver and Seattle. Victoria International Airport is located near Sidney, a 30-minute drive from downtown Victoria. An airport shuttle service, taxis, and car rental agencies are available from the airport.

Air Canada has direct flights from Toronto to Victoria on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and from Victoria to Toronto on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Of course there are many flights daily to Vancouver with a short commuter flight to Victoria or ferry ride from there.

Westjet has Monday to Friday Flights from Hamilton to Victoria with two stops and no plane changes. Westjet also has several return flights with two or less stops and no plane changes.

BC Ferries If you time your Tsawwassen-Swartz Bay trip right, you will find yourself aboard one of our two "Spirit" vessels, each capable of carrying up to 2,000 passengers and 470 vehicles per sailing. Spirit vessels run on the odd-hour sailings from both terminals. The Vancouver Island Swartz Bay ferry
terminal is a 35 minute drive from downtown Victoria. There is bus service from the ferry to
downtown Victoria, but you must contact the bus driver at his counter while on the ferry. 

GETTING TO ROYAL ROADS

Airport Shuttle to Royal Roads
You should book your shuttle to Royal Roads in advance by phoning AKAL Airport Shuttle 250-386-2525 or toll free 1-877-386-2525.  The current rate to Royal Roads is $8 for groups of 5 or more, but individual shuttles can also be reserved. 


By Car
From the Saanich Peninsula and the downtown core take the Island Highway (aka Trans Canada Highway #1) North-West to exit 10 for Colwood and Sooke onto the Old Island Highway (#14).
Travel South-West for 3 kilometres (2 miles) and turn left at the University entrance.

From North of Greater Victoria take the Island Highway (aka Trans Canada Highway #1) South
to exit 11 for Colwood and Sooke onto Atkins Road. Turn right from Atkins Road onto the Old Island Highway (#14). Travel South-west for 3 kilometres (2 miles) and turn left at the University entrance. From West of the University take Sooke Road and travel East towards Victoria. Three blocks past Metchosin Road turn right at the University entrance.
